The Wells family and Wells Funeral Homes have been an important part of Haywood County for over 130 years and through 5 generations. One of the many things time has taught us is that we can never do too much for our community and friends, which is why we have chosen to create a reception and event venue centrally located for our community. We believe Wells Events & Reception Center will become an integral part of our community’s social and civic activities.


In the fall of 2012, J. Wells Greeley purchased The Mountaineer Newspaper press room and publishing building adjacent to the Waynesville location of Wells Funeral Home, only 11 feet away. After undergoing a complete renovation, the building now houses the Wells Events & Reception Center, an easily accessible and conveniently located venue for life’s celebrations and accomplishments, birthdays, anniversaries, weddings & receptions, reunions, awards, baby & wedding showers, funeral receptions, and memorial services, as well as community events and meetings. We are honored to be able to provide this space to the community of Haywood County.

At Wells Events & Reception Center, our events coordinator will assist you with your special event plans, including catering and bar options, decorating ideas, vendor recommendations, and all other needs for a successful special event. Our staff handles every detail so you have less to worry about and more time to enjoy your event.
